By day, Joni Hahn keeps her secret decoder ring hidden while she works as a mild-mannered HR manager and accounting generalist. She believes the world can never have too many superheroes, and anxiously waits for the call when one will need help saving the world. Joni was born with a hopelessly tender heart and believes there is nothing on earth more exhilarating than falling in love. A native Texan, she thinks cowboys are the epitome of masculinity, and that country music is the other soul music.

When she isn’t writing, she enjoys reading, going to movies and concerts and spending time with family and friends.

Smashwords Interview

Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I don't remember the first story, but the book that made the biggest impact on me as a child was Charlotte's Web. I read that story over and over and over... It got me hooked on books in a big way. My teacher selected me for a special summer reading program after she saw how my love of reading took off after that book. It was huge for me.
What is your writing process?
I plot out my book using a story structure board, then move the outline to a table in MS Word. Of course, that doesn't mean I'll stick to the original plan but it gives me a course of action. I write a very rough first draft, taking no time to edit or make changes. If I think of something that needs to be changed, I write down a note and keep going. Writing and editing use two different sides of the brain so trying to edit while I write is counterproductive for me. Once I get the rough draft down, I try to step away from the story for several days to let it settle into my brain. This gives me down time to just think about details. I usually revise my manuscript two-three times before it goes to my editor. Once I receive it back, I do the edits and send out to beta readers.
