For the four years, Josh Malbon attended The Academy of Art San Francisco, studying graphic design and printmaking, he lived in the Tenderloin, arguably the most dangerous district in the city by the bay. Day after night, putting on the metaphorical armor and hiking through the ghetto witnessing drug deals, prostitution, and even murder is what inspired the dark reality of his Hostile Environment world.
Josh had wanted to be a graphic designer, but after that night, when he saw a gunshot victim die before his very eyes that inspired Josh to go into writing.
Josh currently resides in Santa Cruz, California, where he enjoys playing the guitar and gaming of all sorts from board games to video games. His short, Lunch at the Pond won Top Prizes in the SC Hans Christian Andersen Fable Contest.

Have You Ever wanted something with all your heart?
The Commodore 64, the greatest modern jump in video game history, well at least for a ten-year-old in 1984. No longer must we battle in four-color CGA. This is sixteen-color sixty-four kilobyte brilliance, but as a ten-year-old where does a young man find Five Hundred Ninety-Five dollars?!
You can't do this with lemonade.
