JOSHUA COMBES is an experienced playwright, actor, illustrator and Arts educator. A MUSE OF FIRE is his debut novel. He has studied as an actor at CSU where he had the unique opportunity to learn under former members of the ROYAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY and the, then, associate director of the BELL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY. He began his acting career performing in plays by William Shakespeare, among other playwrights, for RIVERINA THEATRE COMPANY, ROUND-A-BOUT-NOW THEATRE and LOVE YOUR WORK PRODUCTIONS, Most recently he played the famously, enigmatic Feste from Shakespeare’s TWELFTH NIGHT for the Sydney Shakespeare Festival. He was involved in a mentorship playwrights program with the AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL PLAYWRIGHT’S COUNCIL early in his career, which fueled his passion in writing for the theatre. He has also written and directed a range of plays for young people, most recently I’M WITH CUPID! - a contemporary, musical inspired by Shakespeare’s MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING. He is a head teacher of Creative and Performing Arts on the Northern Beaches, Sydney, and a strong advocate for Arts Education. He cites THE TEMPEST as his favourite Shakespeare play. Raised in Bowral, NSW, he lives in Sydney with his wife and two young sons.
