"Growing up White Trash" is a powerful biography detailing the life of a young girl growing up and coming of age in marked socioeconomic adversity. The author captures the dichotomy of alcoholism in the family. The author's use of detail allows the reader to experience a full range of emotions, blurring the lines of protagonist and antagonist in family, friend, and love interest accounts. As a reader, I found myself binge reading, eager to know how the next chapter unfolds. The biography is ultimately a story of love and perseverance leaving the reader in awe of the author's accomplishments as written in the "about author" narrative.
