Karen Stensgaard grew up in San Antonio, Texas and was a foreign exchange student for a year in Denmark when she tried aquavit for the first time. After completing her MBA in Texas, she moved to San Francisco and through a series of unexpected twists became an internal auditor focused on financial firms. Karen lived in New York City, and now lives in Philadelphia with her husband Michael and two rescued cats, Lucy and Cosette. Aquavit is her debut novel with more stories about Kat Jensen's adventures underway.
What are you working on next?
After publishing Blueness, the second in the Aquamarine Sea series, I jumped ahead in Kat Jensen's life for a modern-day financial thriller in another series with more adventures. Kat starts another job in NYC as an audit consultant, but it's not the safe, dull job she desires. Additional books in the Aquamarine Sea Series are outlined and planned so after a few. If you have a preference, send me an email to tell me which type of story you prefer. You can contact me via karenstensgaard.com or through the usual social media sites.
Who are your favorite authors?
I'm an eclectic reader and enjoyed reading the traditional Jane Austen, Stieg Larson (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series), and Edith Wharton. I am drawn to strong but flawed women mixed with some history (such as Scarlett in Gone with the Wind). So my muse sent me that direction for my second novel, Blueness. But modern-day settings are easier to write!
When a bucket-list cruise vacation becomes a nightmare! Solo traveling can lead to enormous complications. BLUENESS features a resilient businesswoman on an unforgettable adventure who unexpectedly gets mixed up in some time travel and romance.
When faced with an unexpected opportunity to escape from her daily routine for a few months, Kat Jensen is unsure of what to do and where to go. She bravely decides on a bucket list sea voyage on an old clipper ship sailing from Copenhagen to Hong Kong. But was this the right decision? Follow her adventures starting with Aquavit, the first book in the Aquamarine Sea series.
