It wasn't a bad read - I've certainly read worse - but it's nowhere as good as the Book One. I trully enjoyed the introduction of the wind spirit (the originality was really sublime), but then everything went south from there. Talsy is still her petulant, "i'm-more-special-than-you" self, only she's terribly more irritating and childish now (somehow the book keeps claiming that she is very intelligent but I just don't see it); Kieran is still his one-dimensional, klunky and blundering self, too. The character to show some change is, strangely, the Mujar; seems the former taciturn un-man just can't keep his perfect mouth shut. All said, it's a good book if you keep expectations low. I certainly hope Book Three revives the eloquence and originality I've come to expect from Southwell.
