  • The Realm of Humanity on Oct. 16, 2017

The Realms of Humanity is a well woven story that achieves the intent to portray the different understandings of humanity takes on religion, culture, inter-personal relations, traditions and perhaps, self pride and at the same time satirizing the hypocrisy of those aspects. The Bald Preacher, is a rouge bishop who is, secretly, in bed with Dorcas Nyaguthie. Ironically, he has recruited young men to cleanse the society by killing adulterers, fornicators, gays and they that commit incest. He is successfully able to kill some of them and always had the killer leave a bible quote on the crime scene, apparently, validating the action. This murderer came to be known as the Bible Quote Killer. The return of the killer, brings back Sergeant Maingi, who is leading a team of a well equipped police force in hunting the Bible Quote Killer. Kenneth Taji is married to Dorcas Nyaguthie and born into that union, is Ben and Meg. It becomes twisted since Kenneth is secretly gay, and cheating on his wife with Samuel. He is a lawyer and co-owns a law firm that he build from the ground to a nationally coveted pool of legal minds in the country. When news broke that A Top Notch Lawyer is Gay, he is sued for it, promoting the LGBT community to rally behind him while the anti-gay demos push for Uganda like laws to have LGBT illegal. Meg and Ben takes sides and as series of revelations push this family to the edge and the verge of a break up. Faith Onyanywezi, a no - nonsense legal mind and the wife of the Chief Justice who is, surprisingly, anti-gay, is forced to take up Taji's case. The gay court case heats up for months forcing other anti-gay African nations - through the president, seek to have it dropped. The president uses the Chief Justice to try and twist Faith's arms but he then resigns not to interfere with his wife's career. Faith's commitment to this case however, under all the anti-gay pressure, raises her husband's and her colleagues eyes brows and it's revealed that she owes Taji a huge favor and this was the time to pay it back. What follows, are a series of events, that pushes everyone involved to the limits of personal opinions torn between what is right or wrong, sexual immorality, murders and exposing the bright & dark sides of everyone's life. It's a thought provoking narration and set locally, making it even more entertaining to read. 😊
