Katherine joyfully juggles three part-time jobs: reporter for her hometown newspaper, administrative assistant at an English school for international students, and facilitator of a reminiscence writing class - helping women of a certain age write the stories of their lives. She tries hard not to drop all the balls at once, and attempts to live a (moderately) quiet life in Wisconsin with her husband, and three (pretty much) out-of-the-nest children. Katherine hates shopping, but loves dark chocolate, downhill skiing, the Green Bay Packers, and shoes.
Seven-year-old Ben is found in a coma, suffers myriad disabilities and, later, mental health issues. Yet, love wins. Narrated with irrepressible humor by the quirky mom, this award- winning tale culminates with Ben’s victorious invitation to Washington D.C., to represent Madison Children’s Museum at a national award ceremony.
