What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Coffee. Coffee, coffee, coffee. If I'm in the middle of something awesome--a story I'm writing, a book I'm reading, even the new season of Sherlock--I get up in order to get some quality coffee-and-self time in before my toddler hits the world. ("Go outside! Nachos! NACHOS!")
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I'm often not-writing. I have a toddler, and I share a house with a thirteen year old, and dogs, and a yard that demands...things. I have a day job, which requires a lot of time, but it's usually time I can spend at home amid the chaos. I can get a few words written while the mac and cheese heats, or while the kid watches TV or plays. Or, you know, when I should be sleeping. I'm an insomniac. If I had a pie chart of my life, a huge chunk of it would be labeled "insomnia."
