K.R. Reese

Hi there! My name is Kayla, though my pen name is K.R. Reese. I am a full-time college student, mother of four, and author. Usually I spend my time chasing kids, wiping snotty noses, and trying to find ANY time to sit down. Let's just say that isn't a common occurrence. I'm a student at Kent State University in Ohio, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a concentration in health promotion and education; I have two years left to go. My children are five, three, two, and one years old; a lot to take in, I know, but that's the way it is! :)

Writing has always been more of a hobby. I've tried writing books in the past, never succeeding in finishing them or not feeling supported during the journey, so I gave up. With my oldest going off to kindergarten and my 3-year-old starting preschool, I couldn't tell them "Do whatever your heart and mind tell you to do" because I wasn't doing it myself. I buckled down and finished my novella. It wasn't as long as I'd originally planned or hoped, but it's out there, and it is becoming a series. Now, I can tell my children to follow their dreams and I won't feel like a hypocrite about it.

Smashwords Interview

When did you first start writing?
I started writing while I was still in high school. I'd write multiple little short stories down in my notebook while I was in school, allowing my boyfriend (now husband) to read them. He never really commented on them, then, but now he has been nothing but supportive.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My first and latest book, Come Back to Me (Wilson Creek, #1), has been a story in the back of my mind for a while now. I tried using different Word processors that helped to give you a character profile, location profile(s), and other helpful notes sections, but it was too much. When I bought a new laptop, I took to Microsoft Word and wrote the story that I had wanted to write for a few years now. I changed it slightly from my original plans, but I had to when I decided to make it a series.
