Katherine Starbird spent much of her childhood on and around the water—sailing, collecting shells and hunting sea critters in the flats near St. Petersburg, Florida. There she dreamed up fantastical stories about young people and the ocean.
Today Kate lives in Longwood, Florida where she writes, edits and teaches; still dreaming up stories—some short, some novel length. She is married to her college sweetheart and together they are blessed with three cheerful children, two fluffy cats, and one very bad, book-eating dog.
