Thomas has reigned as Lord of Death for nearly 2,000 years and his sanity is slowly leaching away. Will he be forced to use the Choice? Or will he lose his sanity before he finds a way to escape eternity as Lord Death?
Misty Provencher has outdone herself with "Cornerstone", the tale of Nalena Maxwell. Nalena and her mother, Evangeline, live a life separated from others. Evangeline's obsession with writing stories- and never finishing them- causes an ever-growing pile of papers to overflow their house. Nalena grows more and more isolated from her peers until she meets Garrett. He reaches out to her, befriending her and saving her life when she is attacked and nearly killed. From that point on everything in her life starts to change as she develops abilities that she doesn't understand and has no idea how to control. Everything cuminates with with the need for Nalena to choose her path. To make the choice whether she will live the Simple Life- or take the path that leads to inevitable danger.
I highly recommend this book. Misty Provencher is one of my new favorite authors. Her book Cornerstone was an excellent read- it made me laugh and cry and I'm definetly looking forward to the next book in the series.
Review: Call Out- Jukebox Heroes Book One 4 out of 5 stars
What would you do if your best friend was kidnapped by a psychopathic magic-using, Jessica-Rabbit-look alike? Go rescue her of course! Elizabeth, known as “Em” by all her friends, is thrown into a crazy race to find her best friend Dylan. Along the way, she gathers up allies: Dylan’s devoted boyfriend, Brian, and his best friend, London.
As they start the race to find Dylan before it’s too late, Em must find a way to support London as he attempts to use telepathic powers he once disavowed. Tension rackets up as his powers grow out of control and Dylan suffers under the hands of her psychopathic kidnapper—who just so happens to be his ex-girlfriend, Julia.
Em and London must find a way to save Dylan—even if it means giving up the safety and protection of the emotional walls they have hidden behind for years. Otherwise, they will all find out just how far Julia is willing to go to get London back.
Call Out: Jukebox Heroes Book One was given to me as a free gift by the author L.B. Clark. The book had a distinctly YA feel to it, but I highly enjoyed this book. The tension and excitement starts from page one and doesn’t let up until the end!
I recommend this book to fans of all ages, and I can’t wait until the next book in the series!
