Biography

Laura has worked with older adults with dementia and family caregivers since 1997 when she was certified as a nurse's aide. Since then she's enjoyed serving this special population in many capacities, including direct care, activity therapy, care coordination, and memory care facility administration. She loves working with people with dementia and has a passion for helping others learn how to better understand and interact with people living with the condition. Her blog, ABC Dementia, focuses on Appreciating Behavioral Communication in Dementia and is full of both insight and practical information when it comes to recognizing behavioral communication. Laura's personal experience with struggling to find time for self-care while taking care of everyone around her has greatly informed her work and empathy for family caregivers.
