Elaine Dinnall-Stewart

I can remember reading the Encyclopedia Britannica each evening before bedtime. I was about ten years old and loved the beauty of the written words. I wrote my first poem around that time but was not acknowledged for my efforts. My teachers said it was too good to be written by me and that I must have copied it! I was traumatized! The memory of that moment still hurts, tears still well up in my eyes, even though that happened decades ago. However I continued my long romance with literature always striving to coin a phrase , but I was a closet writer .Slowly I have began to heal and entered a few poetry contests ,came out in full view of audiences and now I am taking giant leaps with the help of Mark Coker’s audacity and vision in Smashwords Publishing. Thank you Mark Coker! Redemption has come.
Writing connects me with the Great I Am. Writing for me is meditative and opens that sacred space where I am fee to Be!
I was born and raised on the island of Jamaica and learned at an early age to be sensitive to the subtly and nuances of my people .This lends imagery, voice and experience to my writing. My first published poem, Place of Grace, received the Homer Award from the Society of Poets. Also published is Moonlight Saving Time in an anthology of poems.
“A Christmas Daydream”,” The Greatest Gift, My favorite Christmas Things & That Certain Christmas Feeling” are currently in the Smashwords store. Enjoy and Thank You.

The Great I Am is a passionate and prayerful lyrical poem in which the names of God come alive. Jehovah El Roi is the One who sees and Jehovah Rapha is the One who heals. Place of Grace reminds us of the constant measureless presence of God. Grace is a sacred space. It is found when it is acknowledged. It is a little piece of heaven. Inside its presence we are safe

A Christmas Daydream is a delightful, nostalgic narrative of Christmas Market, told with passion and sensitivity that will touch your heart. It shares a message of family, love, and what truly matters. A story that is old as it is new with all the sights and sounds of tradition. It will engage and compel you. I liked the meandering quality of the verses somewhat free in style and rhythm. You took me along on each adventure. In a few spots though things flowed less freely.I feel the love in the pieces the spoke love. You have a nack for ending with lines that punch! I like !
