Biography

Leslie was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and grew up in Show Low, in the beautiful White Mountains. Her work experience is varied including jobs working as an EMT on an ambulance, to working as a Correctional Officer in a men’s prison. She currently works as a Bilingual Youth Counselor.

Her first book, Everything I Needed to Know About Parenting I Learned in Prison was inspired by her time working as a Correctional Officer (prison guard). Leslie had planned to work on fiction next, but her course changed when she was dealing with the spiritual ramifications of recovered memories of childhood sexual abuse. She searched for a book or some advice that could answer her questions and ease her pain. Not able to find what she needed, she determined to find the answers on her own, and then write a book to help others. That led to Touching His Robe: Reaching Past the Shame and Anger of Abuse. Now that is complete perhaps she will give fiction another try.

Aside from writing, Leslie loves teaching. She teaches Chess and Historical Fiction at her kids school co-op. Though she proclaims herself to be a “chess klutz”. She also teaches knitting on occasion. She is also very interested in bide riding and has a goal to do RAGRI (a week long bike tour), lose weight and get in shape–not necessarily in that order. Another item on her bucket list is get some sleep.

Leslie lives near Seattle, Washington, with her husband, children and assorted pets.
