Smashwords book reviews by Lee Joseph

  • If I Were Martin Luther King Jr.: Little Martin's Dream on April 12, 2015

If I Were Martin Luther King Jr, provides valuable insight into the "days in the lives" of young people. This book clearly demonstrates the importance of honest communication, and shows that the simple act of sincerely engaging another person has the potential to transform lives. For anyone interested in "jump starting" a conversation among young people on the subject of bullying, Charles Thornton's book would be a great place to start.
  • The Lucky Cat - Black Cat Vol. 1 - A Salem Massachusetts Mini Mystery on April 15, 2015

I suppose that this story's crisp and efficient dialogue is one reason that it is the 'page-turner' that it is. Although each of the major characters faces challenges, all of them live essentially simple lives. Shea's detailed descriptions of the various settings in which the tale unfolds, create vivid and sublime images. Thereby, the author makes it possible for readers to believe that there are still places on earth where life isn't all that complicated. I'm hoping to find time to read others of the thirty-one stories in the series.
