Lakshmi Menon

Biography

Grew up in the beautiful land of Kerala (India), Lakshmi began writing since her school days. After moving to Bangalore, she took her BA degree in History and Sociology, took courses both in Creative writing and Journalism. She has written several articles and stories, including children's stories, both online and in print. She also loves writing travel articles.

What motivated you to become an indie author?
Many of my short stories, children’s stories and articles had been published in print magazines and online, but only a single book for the kids was published with a traditional publisher. In addition, I had many half-finished stories and novels lying with me. When the Indie revolution came I completed them one by one and I thought it as the best opportunity for me to self publish them, instead of waiting for months and years to hear from the traditional publishers.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords provide us not only a great platform to publish our work, they also teach us step by step how to format our books and publish them correctly. Besides, their marketing strategy to various outlets give us a wonderful opportunity to make our books available to a wider readership.
