Lila Veen is a crazy cat lady living in the Chicagoland area. In addition to four cats, she also has two dogs named after people, two kids named after pets, and a husband who is named after a serial killer. She likes to read, cook, do outdoor things she has no business doing, community theater, hang with her family and watch awful reality shows on television.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Other than my really boring day job as a data analyst (yes, really), for FUN I participate in community theater musicals. I have a dance background so I'm usually an ensemble dancer in a production. I will never say "just" an ensemble dancer because the ensemble does most of the work and gets none of the credit! I also have recently taken up flying trapeze classes, and love to learn a new trick for each class. My two kids keep me busy, but if I have actual free-free time, I am a huge television junkie. I love to read, obviously, but sometimes I really just need to turn my brain off and binge watch some TV series.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I pay close attention to what people are hyping on Goodreads and Twitter. If a lot of my friends are reading something, I'll probably download it and get to it pretty fast. I'm a huge series reader, and love a good twisted family saga, so if anyone has read one of my favorite series and loved another one, I'll check it out. While I like to read what's popular, I also enjoy looking for something undiscovered and obscure as well. I'm not too particular about what I read, as long as there's a great plot and well developed characters.
“The Air That I Breathe” is book three in the Blackwater family saga, following "Drowning in a Dream". Leah, Olivia, Ash, and Theo try and escape their imprisonment and find their way back to Blackwater.
