This novel is a fiction based on the only known Chinese Bushranger: Sam Poo, during the 1860s gold rush in Australia. He was an expert in Kung-fu, the martial arts which he learned in the orphanage of Shao-lin. His knowledge of Kung-fu came in handy when he was mining gold in Australia, and helped him escape from death by hanging.
