Linda Merlino

Linda Merlino is a long-hand writer. Once upon a time life kicked her off the writer's path and led her to pursue a more practical profession. Life asked her to hang up her pen, but she could not obey.

The fiction in her head eventually turned into words on a yellow legal pad and as a mother she began to write anywhere, any time. No place was her scared space. She wrote in her car during soccer practices, under an umbrella on rain-drenched sidelines, in fast food restaurants and in chain hotels.

Hudson Catalina filled a carton in her back seat among soccer balls and tailgate paraphernalia, eventually finding its way onto her computer.

Linda was born outside of Boston and has made her home in Connecticut for the past several years. Her children are grown and it is to them that she dedicates her writing.

Smashwords Interview

When did you first start writing?
Writing has always been an outlet for me – even as a kid. I wrote stories and plays when I was in grammar school and acted them out in the classroom thanks to supportive teachers. My novel writing began in the late nineties and escalated after self-publishing my first novel. I learned so much from that experience that I had to keep writing.
Have you always dreamed of becoming an author?
The idea of being an author was spawned from the first novel experience. I wanted to write a fiction novel that a traditional publisher would publish. I’ve been fortunate in finding Imajin Books. My Indie publisher is amazing and willing to go out on a limb for new novelists.
