Loretta Proctor

My mother was a beautiful Greek actress who married an English serviceman during the war. We came back to England when I was young. This mixed heritage inspired The Long Shadow, a story set in WW1 Greece. My second published novel The Crimson Bed is set in Victorian London, inspired by the stories of Sarah Waters. It's available in paperback and as an e-book.
I received prizes for poetry and plays in the late seventies but gave up writing for a long time. Now retired, I live in the UK with my husband and enjoy gardening and writing.

One of the best stories I've read in a while. The characters are very real people, the plot - while bordering on the supernatural - never feels contrived or unbelievable. As for Ali Cooper's writing style, it is truly beautiful, easy to read, elegant and exquisite prose. Highly recommended.
