Louis Greenberg is a South African novelist and fiction editor. His first novel was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers' Prize, and he holds a Master's degree in vampire fiction and a doctorate on post-religious apocalyptic themes. He is also half of the horror-writing duo, S.L. Grey.
Louis Greenberg’s debut novel displays the keen sense of place, sensitive characterisation and fascination with art that become hallmarks in his subsequent work. Set in Johannesburg, London and the Karoo desert, the interconnected strands in The Beggars’ Signwriters curl their way along the formative paths of several characters who strike violently creative sparks off each other.
Johannesburg is becalmed. A wave of New Age belief and an apparent cure for crime have radically altered South Africa’s political landscape. Against the promise of a mystical visitation, Jay Rowan and his married lover Beth Talbot must confront the past they’ve been trying to avoid. Dark Windows is a smart, moody political thriller.
