Luba Lesychyn

Soon after finishing her graduate studies in history, Luba landed on the doorstep of Canada’s largest museum, the Royal Ontario Museum where she worked for more than 20 years. Moving from positions in the education and programs departments to the museum’s consulting branch, she concluded her career in the office that managed the museum’s recent controversial architectural renovation.

After leaving the museum, Luba worked for several years in an administrative and research capacity for a private museum consulting firm with offices in Toronto and London (UK). She currently works in the educational sector and teaches yoga in her home town of Toronto.

Theft by Chocolate is Luba’s debut novel, and the first in The Chocolate Capers trilogy. She has been amusing people with her writing since the age of eight. Her love of chocolate precedes this age and she has been in and out of chocolate rehab for most of her adult life. When not writing or looking for her next chocolate fix, Luba can be found in dance classes, trekking to remote waterfalls in the mountain rain forest of Puerto Rico, running through the streets of Paris, entertaining crowds with dramatic readings of her book, or doing any other number of calorie-burning activities that help offset her chocolate intake.

Smashwords Interview

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Being able to spend time in a world and in stories that are totally of one's own making is, plain and simply, so much fun. It makes a writer feel like they are a master of the universe as one can control what people do and what happens to them. And even more importantly, when the stories I create impact people by making them laugh or cry, there can be no greater satisfaction than knowing I have been able to move someone simply by sharing my imagination.
What are you working on next?
Theft By Chocolate is the first book in the series, The Chocolate Capers.

The second book is in development and I am really ecstatic about it (seriously). The story line is quite different from what I had initially imagined. What was originally going to be the second story of the series will now become the third and final in the trilogy, and the second book is an entirely new concept that has been unfolding little by little in my imagination.

Book Two in The Chocolate Capers, with the working title Kalena's Sense of Chocolate, will be set mostly in Toronto. It will take place in parts of the city that very few people know about or have discovered. So it's going to be a privilege to unearth (hint, hint) this world to my readers. Some of your favourite characters introduced in Theft By Chocolate will be back, but they will be joined by some very fresh and unique personalities. And the nefarious Il Gattopardo will keep both Kalena Boyko and Marco Zeffirelli on the run, literally for their lives in a nail-biting climax.

Theft By Chocolate is a sassy museum heist mystery thriller about a woman looking for chocolate, love and an international art thief in all the wrong places. And in that order! This love letter to the museum world, in which the author worked for over twenty years, surprises with its unusual combination of Bridget-Jones’s-Diary-like humour and thriller elements.
