Lawrence Gray is a writer and film maker living in Hong Kong. He has screenwriting credits in UK and SIngapore TV Drama. And founded the Hong Kong Writers' Circle. He has produced and directed a number of films and teaches Screenwriting around the SE Asia region, notably Singapore.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
It was probably The Bash Street kids in The Beano. I think I was impressed by Smithy and walked around with my jumper pulled up over my mouth for a few days. Plug was also impressive but more as an icon of what not to be and so increased my determination to grow into my ears, which at the time were sprouting uncontrollably from the side of my head.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I believe I ripped off an old Benny Hill sketch and presented it to my primary school as my own work of genius.
