Lyn McConchie

Biography

Lyn McConchie is a New Zealand author who started writing professionally in 1990 after she was crippled in a motorcycle accident, and has since sold on the average of a book every eight months, as well as more than 270 short stories, as well as articles, opinion pieces and poems. Her first book to appear was FARMING DAZE, humorous true-life stories about her farm and animals, which is still in print, with six more published in that series.

Over the ten-year period from 1995 to 2005, Lyn wrote seven Witch World and Beast Master books, published by WARNER BOOKS and TOR, set in the Universes of her long-time friend, Andre Norton. In New Zealand, she is known for her children’s fantasy picture book series, beginning with THE LONELY TROLL.

Lyn continues to write, her most recent book being Sherlock Holmes: Repeat Business published (a collection of new stories published Wildside January 2014,) which is a finalist for America's Silver Falchion Award. Her short stories appear regularly in magazines and theme anthologies.

Lyn lives on her small farm on the North island, where she breeds colored sheep, and has free-range geese, bantams, and hens, along with a beef steer and the occasional piglet (the current one named Xma, because he's spotted.)

She shares the house with Thunder, her Ocicat and 7,000+ books.
