Biography

For over thirty years, Marc Schwartz has traveled the globe training, coaching and consulting with corporate leaders, managers, and sales professionals. He helps them identify and build on the intrinsic motivation that truly drives each person to reach their best both personally and professionally. Additionally, he has trained whole teams and organizations on how to increase results through coaching, leadership and advanced sales skills.

Marc is a highly acclaimed speaker and trainer who actively involves the audience in his presentations through the use of experiential learning techniques and applicable stories. Groups regularly report Marc as high energy and able to have audiences laughing one minute and learning some powerful skills and life lessons the next.

Since 1988, Marc has built a successful consulting practice and several direct sales organizations. He has presented keynotes, seminars and workshops to over 50,000 people in thirty-eight countries on such topics as Generational Leadership, Coaching, Communication Styles, Sales, Key Account Management, Conflict Resolution and Team Development.

Marc is the co-author of Power Shift and the author of The Totally Engaged Audience, an ebook on fearless presentations. He has written multiple articles on: training effectiveness, coaching, leadership strategies, emotional intelligence, authentic selling, and how to more fully engage your workforce.

Marc has a BBA in Management and is certified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, Corporate Coach, NLP Practitioner, CORE MAP Facilitator and RAMP (Rapidly Accelerated Mind Patterning) Practitioner.

In the Power Shift book, what is the significance or meaning of the subtitle, "Discover What Happens When an Irresistible Force Meets an Influential Leader?"
We are at a place in history where something really big and important is happening. An irresistible force is pressing hard against an entrenched immovable object and, as any physicist will tell you, something has got to give. The law of physics says that when an irresistible force meets an immovable object, what always gives is the immovable object. No matter how big or how powerful the object, it eventually succumbs to the irresistible force.

Powerful generational values; core beliefs, which drive choices, behaviors, attitudes, actions, performance and outcomes are the irresistible force and inflexible leaders and managers clinging to outdated rules and management practices are the immovable object. Core values have driven every power shift throughout history and, while they can be managed when understood, they cannot be changed and leaders who try generally find themselves quickly losing control.

One of the most damaging beliefs in business today is the idea that continuing to build on the model of a bygone era will yield satisfactory results now and in the future. Even in slower, more predictable times, the hierarchical model was not a good one. It stifled innovation and fed command and control cultures which are centuries old carry-overs from kingdoms and fiefdoms and are especially well suited to kill the collaborative needs and desires of the Millennial Generation.
What is the essence of your writing in relation to business goals?
Even though my co-author, Dr. Sherry Buffington has written 5 other books, this is my first. My goal is to share 35 years worth of insights and experiences around what I have seen concerning high performance people, teams and companies. I've always thought part of my value on this planet is to shine a light on the old command and control approach to leading people because I dislike it so much and it's the prime reason I became an entrepreneur 28 years ago. It's the 80/20 rule when it comes to highly effective leadership and I have to say most (80%) fall into the not so effective category. Why...conditioning...it's what most of us were taught or what was modeled for us by others. A bit like a dysfunctional family...someone has to be aware and break the cycle.
