Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Panama. My grandfather was the town's local witch doctor. Because we were so far removed from the city everyone came to him for whatever ailed them. My grandfather's exploits did inspire my love for fantasy. Seeing the things that he would do, things that traditional science might scoff at, it definitely created a magic and wonder within me that helped me to see the world in a non-traditional way. One where fairies were real, and magic sacred.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing back when I was in high school, 20 years ago. But it wasn't until 10 years ago that I actively began to pursue publishing my works.
