Independent editor and writer Martha Holoubek Fitzgerald left deadline journalism in 2005 to launch her second career. She has produced several books for clients and two personal projects, "Letters to Luke" and "The Courtship of Two Doctors." Fitzgerald wrote a weekly column for the Shreveport Times for 10 years. Other roles included features editor, business editor, assistant managing editor, and associate editorial page editor. A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, she holds two degrees in history.

Her most extensive work is a business history spanning 175 years. "Morris & Dickson Co. Since 1841: The Story of an Enduring Family Business" draws on public and private records and dozens of interviews to trace the birth, near-death, and rebirth of Shreveport’s Morris & Dickson Co., Louisiana's oldest family-owned mercantile business. The foreword is by Harvard Business School Professor John A. Davis.
