Martyn Tott

Biography

Hello from England. This is a little bit about me, thanks for stopping by!

Despite a reprimand by an English Teacher at school for having 'a little too much imagination' I continued to enjoy writing stories and eventually making some into movies ('Hunters Lodge' is my first feature length supernatural/ghost drama and is now on Amazon Prime). I wrote my first novel length book in the mid-nineties and continued to write half a dozen more that gathered dust until I published one of them in 2009.

I simply write what is there and watch the characters grow, it's as long or short as it needs to be to tell that particular tale. The 'themes' to my stories may vary considerably but they tend to all be driven by colourful characters in different scenarios.

As Stephen King said: "The object of fiction isn’t grammatical correctness but to make the reader welcome and then tell a story."

That sums up my approach really, I hope people like my work of course but never try to target a particular audience or chase a trend. The digital age means that creative artists can get their work out without fitting into neat boxes for huge organisations.

Creative work of any kind should in my opinion be judged on it's merits by each individual who engages with it, not by mass promotion or hype.

I also try to make a short promo film for each book so feel free to check those out on the book page or at my website!
