  • The Order of the Four Sons: Book I on Sep. 01, 2013

This book was a really exciting read. It has a lot of action, yet it keeps you thinking. It was really hard to put down. I liked that this book included Excelsior Springs, MO, which is very close to where I live. This book wove in historical facts and real people with wonderful, likeable characters. At the end of the book, I felt like I knew Kate, JD and the others personally, and I liked them all very much. It was a new experience for me to feel so personally involved with the characters.

I thought I really liked the first book of this series, but I liked this book even more. The characters now were like old friends and, as with Book 1, I had a really hard time putting this down. The characters have become so real to me, with real hang-ups and real problems. It made the characters who have special gifts, like Alyssa and Kate, still seem realistic and accessible. The villains, too, are so realistic and I really hate them. I know you're supposed to, but the authors have made some really believable, loathsome bad guys. It had just as much action and adventure as the first book, which was really exciting. At the end of this book, I could hardly wait for Book 3 to come out.
  • Where Flap the Tatters of the King: The Order of the Four Sons, Book III on Sep. 01, 2013

Oh. My. GOD. This book is the best book I've ever read. I was laughing and crying. I simply could not put it down. No matter what I was doing, I found time to read a few pages. I even took it to work and read it during any spare time. I have come to love these characters so much, I was rooting for the heroes and cheering when the bad guys got what was coming to them. Book 3 also introduces a bunch of new characters that I love just as much. I liked the romance that was added to this book. Christophe is now my favorite character-- he only showed up at the end of Book 2, and I had no idea he was going to play such an important role in the story. Leopold, a brand new character, was also a great addition. There'd better be more of them in Book 4. I thought I couldn't wait for Book 2 to come out. Then I thought I couldn't wait for Book 3. Now I don't know how I'm going to handle the long wait for Book 4. I'm going to read the entire series over while I wait-- I'm sure more than once. Kudos to the authors on creating such a believable universe, and filling it with people I care so much about.
