I served in the US Army on active duty. I'm currently working on a series of stories on military life and adventures. More to come!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Doing yoga! I also love to sing and record music. And I travel. And I dream about finally getting a dog. My current living situation doesn't allow it, but in a few months hopefully that will change.
What is your writing process?
I love to journal, and I've used that as a way to develop my writing skills. I look at my own life as a story, and I try to find as much humor in it as possible, and turn those experiences into something that might be interesting for a reader. For me, writing is a very natural process. It's how I feel I express myself best.
I never saw myself joining the army. It wasn't even something I'd put on the back burner as a possibility in case my life goals didn't pan out. But after earning BA and MA degrees, I found myself, age 27, hopelessly in debt and working my old part-time job. Worse? I was living in my parent's basement on the spare bed. So I embarked on a crazy adventure... and it all stared in army basic training!
