Michael Janes

Biography

As a sixth-generation descendant of Thomas Greg of Belfast, I have been fortunate enough to inherit a collection of family records. In later life, I have had time to pursue further researches into the family and this book has been written to describe the Greg family’s role in it's historical context. Accordingly, the book covers a period when Britain was the cradle of change and innovation in many fields - commerce, agriculture, manufacturing, finance and the development of democratic political structures.
The book goes on to portray the slow decline of a family-based industrial enterprise under the political, social and economic pressures of the late 19th and 20th centuries.
