Michael Valdez

Just a normal person in Indianapolis who happens to enjoy writing and hopes he is getting better at it.

I want to tell stories that are each more interesting and complete than the last, and challenge myself to things differently as I improve.

Smashwords Interview

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up half in New York City and half in Indianapolis, Indiana. Honestly, those places didn't and don't influence my writing all that much. My work isn't based in reality ever, so I only ever get some minor location inspiration from NYC or Indy, and even then not all that much. I'm more about the who, what, and why than the where when it comes to what influences me.
When did you first start writing?
My first attempts at making stories that were "keepers" were when I was about twelve. I started doing little comic books when I started realizing that not only could I draw, but I had a natural talent for it that exceeded a mere hobby. But to have stuff to draw, I began writing stories and character backgrounds, tons of them. I trace everything I am as a writer back to those comic book-loving Junior High days.
