Smashwords Interview

Describe your desk
My desk was made about one hundred fifty years ago in the Piute Mountains of California by some sole who needed a table...It's pondrosa pine and well scared, worn, and now kept well waxed. It was our dinner table when we lived up there. A lot of family and friends ate at this table...that is the description of what is now my desk. It is a reminder of those times when we lived with wood stoves and without running water or electricity., in our cabin in the woods.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in rural Ohio, post WWII. This says everything about influence on my writing. I ate and drank Ohio before I could read or write. I grew from Ohio the way apples grow out of trees, when fireflies dotted the evening sky, and comedy and drama from the radio provided the entertainment. Television was starting with test patterns. I liked the test, and it turned to text. All of it was poetry...and nothing rhymed, but was quite filling and tasty as my neighbor's grandma's rhubard pie.
