Marney was born in the market town of Dorking in Surrey, England, and grew up in the comfortable, affluent, middle-class of the stockbroker belt, a fact she gleefully embraces to this day. A professional secretary and administrator by trade, she has been making up stories since trying to convince her school teachers that the dog did, in fact, eat her homework.
In 2005, armed only with her imagination and her trusty Moleskine, Marney decided that having written fanfiction for ten years, it was about time to pursue her dream of writing her own stories populated by her own characters.
But, what to write? Despite having discovered that romance in real life is somewhat different than that found in the pages of chicklit, being an incurable romantic she wanted to write romance. The imp of mischief was strong in her. The idea of fade-away heroines lying on chintz sofas consoling themselves with boxes of tissues, weepie movies and a hundredweight of chocolate did.

Dan's prose flows gently over you, as you settle into this book. Almost achingly beautiful, a vibrant and colourful passionately woven character-driven tale which I have now read twice and I know I shall read again. I am in awe of Dan's writing.
