This is the first STRAIGHT ZOMBIE book i have ever read...And i enjoyed it!!! It starts out like this: Seffy and her friends are in L.A. 2006 one minute, and after an explosion, are the Montana dessert, with pink skies and glittery sand. They are confused and there isn't anyone else around to fill in the blanks. They soon realize that they aren't the only ones around, there are dead people walking trying to take a bite out of them--ZOMBIES. Seffy believes she's dreaming, Lani is singing songs, Addison is making jokes (at a time like this?) and Gareth is using his zombie movie knowledge to try to get them through this strange world alive. Seffy and her friends are scared but are soon rescued by a man named Malone. The bunch are mistustful of him, but what can they do? They don't know what's going on...and he seems to know what he is doing. He feeds them and takes them from safehouse to safehouse... You'll have to read the book to find out what happens. I recommend reading this book. As the story ended, i was left screaming What? What's gonna happen now? Gotta Read Book 2: The X Factor!

Fantasy lover? This book is for you...Fox is the very first novel of new Author, Parrisha Martelly. Even though the novel was well written, it was hard for me to get into. I would give Fox 3 3/4 stars, but I'm rounding to 4.
-Parts of the story felt as though they were skimmed through, like when movies go to commercial or chop parts out of the story. Fox is on a mission to save her father, Levictious when he is taken by the Chosen. The Chosen are a group that are trying to get Pandora's Box, which we all know releases destruction. Fox is the heir to a group that are protecting Pandora's Box. At first, Fox is refused permission to go rescue her father because she is the only heir and she is also part of a big prophecy where she has the power to save the world from the Chosen. She just hasn't discovered those powers yet... After some deliberation, Fox is allowed to go on the mission--mainly because she would have done it anyway. Fox is insecure with the way people see her. They fear her and when she notices their fear of her, she steps back and holds her head down. Then, there are times when she can be so strong, like when she refused to back down about her father. This story started out real slow for me. It took a while for me to get into it. I found the best parts were when Fox was interacting with Falcon...who throughout the story realizes that the two share a deep pain and have more in common than he realized. The fight scenes definitely felt as if they were cut out. There would be fighting one minute, and then the story cuts to the next scene. Still, I think this was a great first novel and shows how promising Parrisha and the Vendetta Series will be in the future.
- Five Dances with Death: Dance One

Different from anything I have ever read before, “Five Dances With Death” by Austin Briggs is definitely an intense read. It’s very apparent that a lot of research went into the creation of this story. The writing is extremely descriptive and the world came alive. It felt like I was in an environment similar to “Apocalypto” with magic and sorcery added into the mix. Even though there were some fantastical elements, it still read more like historical fiction to me than fantasy. It felt very real. Wasp, the leader of the Tlaxcala people, is on a mission to get his daughter back from the slavers that took her. He refuses to give up looking for her. Everyone tells him to “move on”, but he can’t. His wife, Broken Plume teaches him a little magic. He decides he has enough knowledge of magic, and against the advice of Plume, goes farther than he ever has before. Wasp doesn’t realize until it’s too late, that he is in trouble. I was constantly getting angry with Wasp. He is always jumping into action, without thinking about the consequences of where those actions would lead or listening to the better judgment of others. Wasp soon discovers that his wife Plume is a way more powerful Sorcerer than he ever realized and becomes suspicious of her. Wasp never gives up searching for his daughter, Dew. One dangerous adventure after another, Wasp throws himself into all kinds of trouble where he has to fight for his life. At one point, Wasp plays a serious game with Stern Lord and my palms were sweaty and my heart was beating hard--gambling with other peoples’ lives, ripped out hearts…heavy stuff, but that’s why it’s so exciting. There is a lot of death, and sacrifice in this story. If you are interested in historical fiction, this book is just for you. You will enjoy it!

Not the typical vampire story. Interesting from the very beginning. Liz is brought forth to the Vampire Council to learn her fate and the fate of her Maker. Liz has been accidentally turned by Michael, who is a Vampire. It all started with a kiss... He is confused because it takes 3 encounters to be turned, but he was only with Liz this one time. Liz is special. She has powers that she shouldn't have so early on. As soon as Liz is turned, she and Michael have this intense connection and they don't like to be apart.
