What an incredibly helpful and well-presented guide, Mark. I can't thank you enough for making this guide available for us indie authors to follow the step-by-step process of publishing on Smashwords.
To those naysayers and short-cutters out there I say, NAY!! 'Tis not so!!
The ONLY way to get your book to pass the all-too-important "Meatgrinder" and "EPUBcheck" (which mine did FIRST TRY) is to follow Mark's instructions to the letter. I was fortunate in that I was working with a manuscript that originally came from MS Word 2003 but, now that I am using MS Office 2010, it's a little different in the style guide's instructions...BUT...this guide also gave me the unexpected bonus of teaching me things about MS Word 2010 I never knew existed!!
I am now believing that inclusion in the Premium Catalog is an almost "sure thing" and I eagerly anticipate plugging into the Smashwords community further.

This was a perfect book to read to gain invaluable insights into how to effectively market one's ebook. Mark gives, gives and gives and then...he gives some more. Kudos to you, MC! A real must-read for any indie author. And who can argue with FREE??
