Razvan S. Macovei

I've been teaching English for sixteen years in a high school in my home country Romania. English has always been my greatest passion and I have dedicated my life and my work to it. I spend my time teaching, fighting against violence in and outside my school, supporting ecological and humanitarian actions and having fun. I think FUN should be our everyday goal. Mother Teresa used to say that “peace begins with a smile”. I couldn’t agree more. If people learn to smile more often and make the others smile, Earth will definitely be a better place. Reading my book is one step that you can take in this direction.

How did you become a writer and what was your first piece of writing?
I was in the 7th or 8th grade when I discovered the joy of reading poetry. I used to keep a diary and started to write short poems. It was then that I fell in love with English and tried to translate my first poems in Shakespeare’s language. I felt an immense joy which pushed me to write more.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The unique chance to reach people’s minds and heart, the incredible opportunity to make a contribution to a better world.

This is a great book, very useful for the study of English idioms and phrases! The fact that includes proverbs from different cultures makes it even more valuable. I will definitely use some of the input here in my future English classes!
