Parts of a Whole, by John G. Walker, is a series of twisting and entertaining mysteries that leaves readers eagerly awaiting and wanting more. The excessive details appeals to the reader’s visual sense and allows them to be a part of the dynamics of the story. Walker succeeds at weaving several narrative threads into a unified whole, making his subsidiary characters as compelling as the major player. The realness of the relationships and a hint of morality compel readers to probe further. Parts of the stories are intentionally predictable while other details bring readers to the reality of it all. He succeeded in letting readers know that you should never judge a book by its cover and that all lies are rooted in the truth.
