Smashwords Interview

When did you first start writing?
I began writing stories when I was a child. I dream very vividly and I remember my dreams when I wake. I would often wake up so inspired I had to write down what I experienced. I have always had lots of fun playing in my dreams. Writing, for me, was a rather unlikely activity. I struggled with, what was later diagnosed as, dyslexia. Reading, spelling, home/schoolwork in general was a constant battle. However, art and imagination, along with the example of my mother, who at the time was taking classes for her journalism degree, I forged ahead. Granted, my little writings could have been considered written in 'code', but I could read them and enjoyed the reliving my otherworldly adventures.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book is Saving Moonsun: The Journey of Prince Starsun. I wrote this story originally when I was about 10 year old. It was the first story I had completely finished and the longest, too; the longest being 8 handwritten wide-rule pages.

I am excited to share this tale with people. Even as a child, having meaning and purpose was important to me. The creatures in my story all play a vital part in the development of the main character. Each one presents a challenge or test that Prince Starsun has to overcome in order to achieve his quest. Along with Prince Starsun, we learn that in any adventure we can be honorable, courageous, brave, and show the love that is in our hearts.
