Dean Kennedy

As a semi-professionally self-published author of a few fantasy bits that romanticize alcohol, violence, and forced-friendship, I’ve always tried to look on the brighter side of things. Such as, what happens when a faerie tries to get you inebriated enough to agree to helping overturn a cult of old-god worshipers? Is it ever acceptable to throw an imp across the room for suggesting that you’d look better with a few extra holes drilled through your sternum? Can a friendship between a goblin and a jackalope ever move beyond rabbit-jokes and scathing insults about one’s height (or lack thereof)?

My books try desperately to answer these questions. I try to write books that balance banter, action, mystery, booze, and colorful characters. Then I proceed to jam all those traits into a contemporary urban setting and see where they take me.

I wont give away any more of the story, so I’ll tell my own. I’m a mid-twenties guy who enjoys a literal plethora of activities. I don’t need to list them all out, you guys aren’t here for that. You’re here for the slightly bookish-looking things that fall out of my hard drive. I happen to enjoy abusing my keyboard during the deep dark winters that fill four months of the year here in Fort Collins, Co.

When I graduated college, I worked for two years before deciding I wanted to be an Engineer. So here I am, a Texas transplant to the cold north, desperately trying to knock out a chemical engineering degree before the cold takes me forever.

So thanks for stopping by! I’ll be updating the page and giving links to my ebooks. I’m currently looking into print options as well.

Smashwords Interview

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Making characters angry at each other and recording responses.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. They keep me cool in the summer and are a cheap alternative to central air.

But as for my readers, I just hope that I can bring enjoyment to a few folks.

A knife to the neck, an open highway, and a quarter tank of gas. The truck was mine, the highway belonged to the night, and the knife belonged to a cigarette-smoking faerie that sat in the darkness behind the driver's seat. All I wanted was to stop for gas, but instead I got hauled into a civil war thanks to a drug-addled faerie and a deal gone wrong. A Faerie Bad Deal
