Smashwords Interview

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I've always loved words. Individual words, phrases, slang, idioms or sayings. I very much enjoy experimenting with words in order to find the best way to put across what I want to say. To sit alone in a quiet room and work on writing a chapter (or even a sentence!) of a book is a challenge of concentration and patience, but the feeling of satisfaction I have when I realise I've managed to express myself exactly as I intended, is wonderful.
What are you working on next?
I'm working on a new collection of short stories, which I'm close to finishing. The characters in the stories are ordinary people who've had experiences in life that have somehow damaged them. I'm aiming to expose the fear, hurt and uncertainty that lurks at the edges of all our lives, the shadowy darkness that lies within us all.
