Nicolette Groeneveld taught for ten years in the French Immersion program at the Junior High level. In 2001, disillusioned with the public school system, she quit teaching and created the Indigo Sudbury Campus, a democratic, unschooling “school” modeled on the 44-year old Sudbury Valley School. After six amazing years, a forced relocation and resulting drop in enrollment forced ISC to close. Nicolette now supports alternative education by working as a home education facilitator for www.educationunlimited.ca.
Nicolette’s other accomplishments include being a published author of two novels and an accompanying activity guide; compiler and co-author of a French poetry collection for adolescents; an experienced cooperating teacher; and a public speaker. Nicolette also has a screenplay in the works - a black comedy on education.
