Fairly good story so far. Has enticed me enough to come back and finish it.

Okay, this book was pretty good. I like the fact that this author took a bunch of his stories and combined them into this 'nighttime reading' book. Really, it's nice not to read a huge series and just a tale once in awhile. I was a little unkicked back when I saw it had vampires in it but for 99 cents I didn't buck and I'm glad I didn't because not all of them have vampires. This author also actually talks to you in between each tale, almost like a narrator. It's less 'this is a book' it's more 'this is my book.' My favorite story was the kid in the sewers. Parents, take note, if you want your kids to make it to college with the best grades, his book has got the answer. It might not be ethical, but it might give you ideas. The half brothers was good too. Some of the stories are creepy and a little gory, and others are just spooky treats.

The cover grabbed me right away. Isn’t it gorgeous? I love fantasy, and I’ve read erotic before (not exactly thrilled, never much plot.) However this one was different, there is plot. In fact, the plot in this moves onto another book and then another. The first time I picked it up I began to think maybe it wasn’t as erotic as the author seemed to fashion it to be because we start in a dance club. I figured chicklit but kept reading anyhow because the writing was strong. Then it takes a turn. Dancing isn’t exactly dancing. Dancing brings about some erotic energy that enables the Fae’s, Fairies and other dancers to strengthen their magic. Since losing her boyfriend, Taryn has lost a lot of energy so her friend is by her side, helping to bring it back. If this was a real dance club, the cops would show up in five minutes. Just sayin’! Anyhow, it is erotic but with plot, and the ending will take us into the second book which our author is kind enough to give us a glimpse of.
  • Reading a Writer's Mind: Exploring Short Fiction - First Thought to Finished Story on April 08, 2012

I have to grade this on two curves, since this book is actually an enjoyment for both readers and writers. There are some notable short stories in here that made the cut and were published in her past, and even some that it seems is published today in her short story collections. Not only serious writing advice, but enjoyable writing material. If you have ever read a short story and wondered 'how did the author ever…?' This author can satisfy that need, and then some as she explores ways to help you also as a writer. I received a copy of this ebook for review on April 3, 2012 in exchange for an honest review.
  • The Necromancer's Apprentice on April 14, 2012

It’s dirty, it’s gritty, and it leaves you with that greasy feeling of oil between your fingers. I devoured this book. In the beginning it’s like historical fiction from the depression era, complete with the mysterious illness and a farm. I actually did not like the main character at all at first. But before you know it, the author throws a giganic twist at you, and you’re taken directly into the meat of the mystery. The ending itself was quite satisfying, and actually made me hope there is room for another book after this. I enjoyed it immensely, especially the love/hate relationship between the MC and Master Dagg. And I don’t mean romantical, don’t think this is romance. Put that notion away, this is gothic good old storytelling. If you have been craving something raw and different in fantasy, this might be the book for you. I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
  • Pascal's Wager on April 26, 2012

Can you create a better philosophically risk-taking gambler addicted detective than Pascal? I doubt it. He oozes Descartes, Kierkegaard, Socrates, and more if they were alive today and gambling men. I wish I could give away the entire plot to this story, but I can't. I will tell you that Pascal's easy job of investigating the case of Phil LaPierre's death turns out to be not so easy in the end. You'll find out when you read this book, and if you are anything like me, you are going to love this ending. For readers who enjoy some sexy action adventures with some philosophical gambling, and a whole lot of mystery, this is the book for you. A free copy was provided on April 3, 2012 for review. You'll find out when you read this book, and if you are anything like me, you are going to love this ending. For readers who enjoy some tantalizing scenes (nothing super erotic), action, adventure, a tiny bit of romance and a whole lot of mystery, this is the book for you. • The Circle of Sorcerers: A Mages of Bloodmyr Novel: Book #1 on Aug. 05, 2012

This is a real toughie. On one hand, I loved it. Brian Kittrell has a beautiful writing style and a rich world full of interesting characters. However it’s less modern, more traditional fantasy. I would say if you like things like the original Hobbit or Lord of the Rings where it took some time before they even started the journey, then this might be for you. Today, books tend to move a little faster, but this book doesn’t. I read this book a little each day, trying to keep up with it. It was good, after all, simply slow. It started to speed up later in the book, and after it speeds up it does get good! You meet other situations like helping thieves and meeting old friends again. Taking it on with magic. The magic for war actually reminded me of Final Fantasy. Where on their turn, a magic caster could cast magic on an ally to increase protection, or to help their ability in some way. Overall, the book was good. The beginning set it up nicely, we got to see what kind of personality our hero had which, wasn’t as outgoing as the usual. I also REALLY loved his teacher. Oh, she was like a breath of fresh air in the story. I am going to give the book a III since it was hard to keep going. I don’t know if I want to try the second book yet compared to how long the first one took. But, there is a chance, especially since I am guessing the slow beginning is over.
