While teaching young children Sunday school, it soon became evident that many of the children had only a vague idea of what and how to pray. It was then that the author, Nancy L Watrud, decided to start every Sunday school session with a time of prayer. Each week the children's prayer requests were recorded in a notebook. What resulted was a window into "What Kids Pray".

  • Defeat Fear Forever on June 17, 2011

"Defeat Fear Forever", a book by author Christina Li, is rich with Bible reference. I found Christina's book to be a deep but pleasant read. It is full of thoughts to chew on, such as: "Don't follow your heart, it's an awful compass." and "Feelings are meant to be our servants, not the other way around." As Christina Li states early in her book, "You can defeat fear forever. It all comes down to really getting to know the One who can help you." In "Defeat Fear Forever", Christina is transparent about personal moments in her life where fear defined her and includes many interesting excerpts from other authors and their experiences with defeating fear. I highly recommend this book, whether you are suffering from fear or know someone who is or would like to dig deeper into issues of low self esteem. This is not a dry read, you will enjoy it!
  • Annie's Adventures: The Chemistry Calamity on July 22, 2011

Book Review by Nancy L Watrud Annie's Adventures: The Chemistry Calamity Book 1 in the "Annie's Adventures" series by author Christina Li I found "Annie's Adventures: The Chemistry Calamity ", to be a very enjoyable read! This is a fictional book loosely based on the Li household. "Annie" has four siblings ranging from 3 to 10 years of age and they are all home schooled. Christina Li seems to effortlessly combine the home school aspect of this book into the story line. I had the pleasure of reading the draft to this book a couple of years ago and simply fell in love with it! Christina had to put it on a back burner for a period of time while she worked on more serious books, ("Defeat Fear Forever" and "Allowing Joy into Your Life") but finally chiseled out the time to finish and publish it. The reason I anticipated the kick off of this series is that it is so very multifaceted! "Annie's Adventures" is a fun read and I also found it amazing in the way it wove together great family dynamics, in-depth home schooling, deep faith and belief in God and is a very good guide and snapshot of what it takes for home schooling to be successful. I'm looking forward to the next installment of "Annie's Adventures" soon! Nancy L Watrud https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/51106 Author "What Kids Pray"
