of Altered States is part fiction study group, part writing workshop, part indie publishing experiment.
Who We Are
of Altered States was first established in the early days of 2011 by two friends with a strong interest in writing and publishing, Victoria Griesdoorn and Alan Gowing, a scientist in cancer research and a writer with editing and teaching experience. Within months our numbers swelled to 25. of Altered States provides a platform to writers, illustrators, photographers and graphic designers to combine their skills and produce a series of anthologies.
Our Anthologies
The of Altered States anthologies are a series of themed collections that showcase short stories alongside visual art contributions. The of Altered States theme runs across genres, but in essence focuses on a change after conflict. The change and conflict can be anything; real or imaginary, physical or emotional, personal or societal. Anything. But a change in status quo is essential. And we experience the change as our characters speed, hesitate or stumble through their transitions.
