Smashwords Interview

Why did you write a book about happiness?
I have an inquiring mind. I like to understand how society and people work – this includes understanding what is necessary to achieve happiness. As part of my investigations I will read books and other research material on the subject. However I never accept what I read at face value. I also build on what I have read, introducing my own thoughts on the subject into any theory. I find that writing the information down assists me immeasurably in forming the theories and ensuring that they are logical and complete and also to build on them. Initially I write for my own benefit – to organise my thoughts so they are not just all held in my mind. However after having done all that work, over a couple of years in this case, and coming up with a work that I am happy with then I decided I would publish the writing as an ebook in the hope that someone else may also benefit from my work.
Do you claim to have all the answers on human happiness?
Very few people can legitimately claim that. What I have written here is my best effort to summarise what is necessary to achieve a happy life. I have developed this over many years from my reading, experience and thought.
