Andrew Clarke

Matthew Lloyd is Andrew’s third co-authored biography, following on from his work with aerial skier Lydia Lassila and motor racing legend Mark Skaife. It is his 16th book.
Andrew’s career as a journalist started with the short lived reincarnation of Footy Week in 1987 off the back an injury shortened career as an umpire with VAFA. After his short tenure in football, Andrew ventured into the motor industry where has spent much of his time as a writer. His first book, A Pictorial History of the Australian Automobile, was published in 1989 with world-wide distribution through Bison Books in the USA.
He became editor of Racing Car News in 1989 and then freelanced with many publications and media outlets from then until now. He also works as a brand and communications consultant for law firms.
Andrew says he is driven by good stories, no matter what form they take, and as a ghost writer he prides himself in telling a story in someone else’s words. His desire with Matthew Lloyd is to show a personality that is in many ways the opposite of his on-field persona, to carry across the story telling ability and humour that made his so popular with the players inside his club.
Andrew is happy to be working in football again. He is based in Melbourne with a wife and two kids who all share his love of football.
