Pam Hobbs


Born in England, the youngest of seven sisters, Pam Hobbs emigrated to Canada in l950, and has lived in Toronto for most of her adult life. She returns to Britain, to write about it and to visit her family there, as often as time permits. For more information go to her
Pam has been a travel writer since l967 when she crossed Canada with her husband and three young daughters in a Volkswagen Campmobile and wrote about her experiences for Toronto newspapers. For l8 years she was under contract to write travel solely for Canada’s national newspaper, the Globe and Mail, and since then has written for major newspapers and magazines. Her travel stories have netted her many prestigious awards. She is author or co-author (with her husband Michael Algar) of seven travel-related books. Her last book, published in 2009 by Ebury Press , is “Don’t Forget to Write” in which she details her experiences as an evacuee during World War ll.
