I am a Kauai-based poet, journalist and artist.
In 2015 I began taking orders for poems at a monthly art walk for my own delight and to share a love of words. I sit behind a typewriter composing poems-to-order for passersby. Having waitressed for over 20 years, I am unabashedly sentimental about the iconic green guest check. People offer a word or phrase as a title, and I craft a poem on the spot. The poem customer receives the green Guest Copy and I keep the yellow carbon Kitchen Copy. On Kauai I am known as The Short Order Poet.
I love words and human beings and the electricity traveling between us when we are curious and open to the unknown.
I believe that poetry heals the brokenest of hearts - and when read aloud- even more so.
I am committed to sharing poetry that makes you a more attentive observer, listener and friend.

Short Order Poems

(5.00 from 2 reviews)
Short Order Poems were crafted on a Remington 5 vintage typewriter at art events on the island of Kauai, where Pam Woolway, known as The Short Order Poet, composes spontaneous verse on an iconic four-by-six inch waitress guest check. The customer offers a word or phrase as the title of the poem. When the poem is finished, they receive the green guest copy and Pam retains the yellow kitchen copy.
